'People are intimidated' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

It's obvious why Arsenal have become countless pundits' favorites to win the Premier League this season.

Consider their performances against West Ham and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches last season.

The Gunners have beaten all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive strength is a key reason why they are seeming ready to at last realize their title ambition.

They lead the league for clean sheets (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their effectiveness from free kicks is widely recognized, but opposition teams still find it difficult to stop the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just fearful of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is particularly impressive about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their historic competitors aren't faring so well. This marks the premier instance at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer additions in quest of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far proven successful in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the strongest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Shutouts in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now functioning with conviction and resolve.
