“It was unfortunate. It was kind of an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a large group of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the signal was entirely unintentional, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the wrong finger,” he noted. “It was inadvertently done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”
