American Forces Targeted a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Claimed Without Providing Specifics.

Former President Trump has stated that US military assets targeted a "significant installation" in the South American country in recent days. However, the former president offered no details on the exact nature or location of the strike, and officials have issued no additional comment from his team.

Vague Comments Offered In a Radio Show

"We just destroyed – I'm not sure if you read – they have a large facility, where the ships come from. Two nights ago, we took it out. So we struck them with significant force," Trump allegedly informed GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Possible Significance of a Verified Attack

Should a American strike were to be confirmed, it would mark the initial attack on Venezuelan soil since the US Department of Defense began a expansion of American strike forces in the Caribbean region to interdict drug traffickers that the former administration alleges operate under the direction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This original mission of the military buildup has transformed into a blockade aimed at hindering the country's crude oil shipments.

Social Media Video and Official Claims

Trump has for some time indicated that American military units are ready to escalate the operations by striking targets inside Venezuela, a move that would in theory require congressional authorization.

A clip posted on social media on 24 December seemed to depict an detonation allegedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. However, the video or the facility has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team allegedly told a news network that the president was describing a drug facility in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Posture

The Maduro government has remained silent on the incident the former president referenced. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela regarding it.

The presence of American forces in the area – a stance certain officials have termed a naval quarantine – marks the largest maritime enforcement action of his time in office.

Sources have refrained from describing the operation as a blockade, but have stated that about 15,000 personnel are positioned across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, advanced fighter jets, and Coast Guard cutters to enforce current sanctions.
